Simultaneous 4-Chamber Strain

چکیده
Analysis of myocardial deformation, or strain imaging, is becoming part of routine echocardiography. The most widely accepted parameter to date has been global longitudinal strain as a measure of global left ventricular (LV) function. Global longitudinal strain (LS) of the LV, in (negative) percent, is the average of the maximal shortening (in percent) in the apicobasal direction of each of 18 LV segments visualized in the 3 standard apical views. The strain curves are computed using speckle tracking to determine myocardial velocity in a region of interest from which local strain is derived. LS is defined as deformation (shortening or lengthening) along the midline of LV walls, that is, in an apico-basal direction, but following the curvature of the LV walls. Similarly, global left or right atrial or right ventricular LS can be obtained as average of segmental peak LS. Strain data are highly dependent on image quality and frame rate, as well as physiological parameters as blood pressure.

A device for simultaneous live cell imaging during uni-axial mechanical strain or compression.
Mechanical stimuli control multiple cellular processes such as secretion, growth, and differentiation. A widely used method to investigate cell strain ex vivo is stretching an elastic membrane to which cells adhere. However, simultaneous imaging of dynamic signals from single living cells grown on elastic substrates during uni-axial changes of cell length is usually hampered by the movement of ...
متن کاملSimultaneous Longitudinal Strain in All 4 Cardiac Chambers: A Novel Method for Comprehensive Functional Assessment of the Heart.
BACKGROUND Simultaneous assessment of longitudinal strain (LS) by 2D speckle-tracking echocardiography in all 4 cardiac chambers has not yet been explored. Our goal was to study LS curves obtained simultaneously from all 4 cardiac chambers in healthy subjects to gain insight into interchamber functional relationships. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 259 healthy subjects (age 44±15; 118 men) in...
متن کاملValidation of noninvasive indices of global systolic function in patients with normal and abnormal loading conditions: a simultaneous echocardiography pressure-volume catheterization study.
BACKGROUND Noninvasive indices based on Doppler echocardiography are increasingly used in clinical cardiovascular research to evaluate left ventricular global systolic chamber function. Our objectives were to clinically validate ultrasound-based methods of global systolic chamber function to account for differences between patients in conditions of abnormal load, and to assess their sensitivity...
متن کاملNumerical investigation of strain distribution during cyclic expansion extrusion (CEE)
Strain distribution of Al 1100 was numerically investigated during cyclic expansion extrusion (CEE) process using finite element method (FEM). Die angle, corner fillet radius and die chamber diameter were considered as die parameters and friction factor and number of passes as process parameters. The effects of these parameters were investigated on the effective strain and strain homogeneity in...
متن کاملLeft Ventricular Longitudinal Function Assessed by Speckle Tracking Ultrasound from a Single Apical Imaging Plane
Background. Transthoracic ultrasonography of the heart is valuable in monitoring and treatment of critically ill patients. Speckle tracking ultrasound (STU) has proven valid in estimating left ventricular systolic deformation. The aims of the study were to compare conventional and automated STU and to determine whether left ventricular systolic deformation could be estimated from one single ima...
